NewsBy Rupert HohwielerAustralian distillery Four Pillars has launched Melbourne Laneway Gin as the first release in its new City Series. Melbourne Laneway Gin was created by chief distiller Sarah Prowse and nods to the coffee culture of Australia’s second city, where there are world-class coffee shops located around every corner and laneway. It was distilled with two types of coffee beans from Fitzroy roaster Proud Mary, Humbler and green beans, as well as fresh oranges, cassia bark, green cardamom, Tahitian vanilla bean, roasted wattleseed, tonka beans and cacao nibs. Given its coffee profile, the gin is suited to cocktails such as the Coffee Negroni, or the Mont Blanc, which is inspired by the viral coffee serve created at Melbourne’s Good Measure café. Four Pillars has also released a peach-flavoured gin designed for brunch drinks and a Mexican-inspired gin for Margaritas this year.
