An equipment failure at a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic control center disrupted flights across much of the Midwest on Thursday after radar and radio systems went offline, delaying departures, diverting aircraft, and prompting ground stops at several airports, according to ABC News. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP Airport) said the outage prompted a temporary ground stop for departing flights while allowing limited arrivals. Radar and radio service at the Minneapolis control center resumed about two hours later, and the FAA lifted the ground stop at Minneapolis-St. Paul around 4 p.m. Central Time.
