The Luigi Mangione story brought some much-needed attention to an ever-important topic, the American healthcare system, the truth of which is so sadistic that many overseas and some here at home might hardly believe it. most of that focus shifted quickly to Mangione himself, his biography and his trial. At the time, I held the view that he did the wrong thing for the right reason. But my ultimate opinion remains in limbo until I see whether or not his action brings about a change in our murderous healthcare system and saves lives. I’m less desirous of a Robin Hood figure than a humane system that doesn’t profit from sickness and death.
