Romsey Young Carers was praised in a national report highlighted at the recent launch of the Equity for Young Carers Project. The Equity for Young Carers Project aims to unite support for young carers across the UK. Chris Hall, Operational and Strategic Lead for Romsey Young Carers (Image: Romsey Young Carers)The newly launched report found a significant under-identification of young carers, with just 64,475 recorded in the 2024/25 School Census compared to sector estimates of around 800,000 young carers aged 11 to 16 in England. The report focused on the work of Romsey Young Carers, which supports around 170 young carers aged eight to 21 across Romsey and the southern Test Valley.
