Nowadays, all you need to create your own DIY music is an instrument, some recording software, and access to a Bandcamp account. Well, that and Prison Affair, of course. Then, more recently, Prison Affair took those split releases one step further, establishing their very own record label. It is not overly egregious to claim, therefore, that Prison Affair – despite not having courted the attention of the independent rock ‘mainstream’ in quite the same way as egg-punk comrades Snooper – are the global ambassadors for that entire scene. When it comes to the modern and ever-expanding landscape of DIY rock and roll, though, Prison Affair are, without a shadow of doubt, leading the charge.
