In the opening remarks, as per the BBC, the barrister representing the developer deemed Knopfler a “deep-pocketed rockstar”. He went on to add that he is “proud of my lifelong achievements as a rather more humble musician”. Despite his time with Dire Straits coming to an end almost as quickly as it started, Knopfler has released a steady stream of his own solo music throughout the last few decades. As for Dire Straits, the band last released a full-length album in 1991, with On Every Street, following the hugely successful 1985 cut with Brothers in Arms.
