The latter instance became the case for former Toronto Blue Jays player Rob Refsnyder as the Seattle released the 35-year-old veteran in the aftermath of their deadline acquisition of slugger Taylor Ward.
For Blue Jays fans, Refsnyder will forever be remembered for his disappointing showing with the club after coming over to Toronto in a trade with the New York Yankees during the summer of 2017.
As a result, Refsnyder was put on waivers by the Blue Jays following the conclusion of the 2017 season.
In 309 games with the Red Sox, he batted a solid .276 with an .804 OPS, along with 117 runs scored, 27 home runs and 119 RBIs.
