Dudley Council is making changes to pedestrian crossings near the island, which links Bridgnorth Road with High Street, after long-standing concerns over pedestrian safety and traffic management. Councillors past and present say residents say the zebra crossings are too close to the island and delivery vehicles park on double yellow lines, reducing visibility for pedestrians. Councillor Andrew Tromans said: “The school holidays are generally a good time to complete road works and some disruption is to be expected." “Whilst I was watering the Wollaston planter, while David Sheppard is away, I saw Wollaston Island brought to standstill. “I am glad that thanks to Lib Dem pressure, the road layout on Wollaston Island is due to be reviewed by the council.”
