Melvin Theuma broke down in court today as he recalled the day journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated, telling jurors that “my life ended” when he saw news of her death. Struggling to speak and wiping away tears, Theuma told the court: “16 October at 3pm.” Theuma said words spoken to him in court by lawyer Jason Azzopardi continue to haunt him. Theuma revealed that he remains in contact with two of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sons, Matthew and Paul, saying they continue to speak to him despite his involvement in their mother’s murder. Yorgen Fenech is pleading not guilty to complicity in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
