Sunderland City Council has opened the 2026/27 round of its Festival & Events Fund, which offers grants to support fresh, creative, and community-led events. "Through our Festival & Events Fund, we want to encourage local organisations not only to create great events, but to think creatively about what our community could become." The fund aims to help groups develop sustainable events that attract visitors, boost footfall, and strengthen community pride. Groups will also receive guidance from Sunderland City Council's Events Team to help improve planning, delivery, and sustainability. The fund is open to registered charities, constituted community groups, Community Interest Companies (CICs), social enterprises and local partnerships with a clear community focus.
