Lee Tweedy, 43, of Pavilion Terrace, Burnope, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on August 4.
Tweedy later failed to surrender to bail at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on June 8, an offence to which he also pleaded guilty on July 7.
Tweedy was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 12 months because the court saw a prospect of rehabilitation.
He must complete 200 hours of unpaid work and up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities.
Tweedy was also told to pay £85 in costs and a £154 victim surcharge, with payments in monthly instalments.
