The Mental Health Commission published a report last year that warned of substantial delays, especially for ‘out-of-hours’ mental health assessments.
The report found that people with mental health presentations have to “compete for attention in the crowded emergency department space”.
The teams, comprising Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), will provide specialist support to people presenting to emergency departments in mental health crisis.
