Young Burnham-On-Sea sailor Brooke Browning has returned home from competing in the 2026 Topper World Championships in Quiberon, France, with another impressive result to her name after finishing 29th overall against a highly competitive international fleet. The 14-year-old, who is a student at King Alfred School in Highbridge, has become one of the area’s most promising young sailors. She endured a challenging start to the week when she was handed a black flag disqualification in the opening race. To finish 29th in the world after overcoming two major setbacks is a “remarkable achievement” for the young sailor and underlines her reputation for competitive spirit, said her coach. Competing against many of the world’s best young sailors, Brooke represented both her club and the Southwest.
