The Clinton Baseball Association took its first step toward Williamsport with some help from a neighbor. Vicksburg resident Brently Ashley went 2-for-2 with an RBI double, and struck out 12 batters in 5 1/2 innings pitched to lead Clinton to a 4-0 victory over New Mexico’s Eastdale Little League on Thursday in the opening game of the Little League Southwest Regional. Ashley and Ruston Landers, both from Vicksburg, are allowed to play with the Clinton squad since their hometown does not have a Little League-affiliated league. He only allowed one hit, one walk and one hit batter, and struck out eight batters in a row at one point. Grant Utroska followed with a single to score courtesy runner Gunnar Fults for a 2-0 lead.
