Watching the gang attack of a lifelong public health civil servant, Dr. Anthony Fauci, was one of the most painful experiences in recent memory. Reminiscent of the McCarthy era witch hunts, it was carefully staged to trap those in the hot seat in any contradiction or misstatement. This panel of bobble-heads had one objective and one objective only — and it wasn’t to add to our knowledge of how to better respond to future epidemics. Fauci and other scientists were confronted with an unknown virus, rapidly overwhelming our hospitals and medical staffs.
