Where Mainers’ light bills really go | Opinion
['Jon Amirault']
The Portland Press Herald
I process the property tax bills paid by everyone, including Central Maine Power.
In our town, we don’t even have any major substations or equipment yards and I see the money CMP is paying to support our town.
CMP pays roughly $68 million annually just in local property taxes across Maine.
If you’re curious where your money goes, call your town office and ask what CMP paid in property taxes last year.
Ask your town about property tax contributions.
