Chennai: The divorce proceedings between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam officially came to an end on Friday after the latter withdrew her petition before a family court in Chengalpattu, near Chennai.
Sangeetha, who appeared before the court through video conferencing, informed the judge that she no longer wished to pursue the case.
The court then permitted Sangeetha to withdraw the petition and granted her liberty to file a fresh petition in the future, if required.
Vijay and Sangeetha, who tied the knot in August 1999, have a son (Jason Sanjay) and daughter (Dhivya Sasha).
Actor-turned-politician Vijay was sworn in as chief minister after his party TVK emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, ending the decades-long dominance of the DMK and AIADMK.
