Construction on new transit station to begin this month

Construction on the new Grand River Transit (GRT) Doon Station is set to begin this August.
The station near Conestoga College off Doon Valley Drive will include nine bus bays.
“The new station will be a modern, accessible transit facility that will make connections easier and improve the overall customer experience,” read an update on GRT’s website.
Photos of the new Doon Station provided by Grand River TransitThe start of construction however, comes as GRT reported a drop in ridership levels, most notably in those high student traffic areas.
Construction on the Doon Station is set to wrap up sometime next year.
