West Bengal assures AIFF support for India vs Brazil matchAIFF president Kalyan Chaubey said West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has assured full government support for India's historic international football match against Brazil in Kolkata on October 3. “It was not a football match, it was more of an exhibition involving an individual. But a football match is different and must be organised under the standard operating procedures of FIFA and AFC. I believe this match is not only a football match, it will also give the Government of West Bengal an opportunity to showcase itself on a global platform where people talk about Kolkata football, Bengali football and Indian football. In the last five to six years, between 2016 and 2022, India played Nepal five times, Afghanistan four times and Bangladesh three times.
