The group announced its new nonstop channel Green Day TV on Thursday with a Wayne’s World-esque promo, with the channel promising “a 24/7 nonstop stream of live footage, music videos, unearthed VHS tapes, deep cuts, and probably some stuff that should’ve stayed in the archives.” As extra incentive to stay constantly tuned in: Green Day TV will also broadcast trivia, giveaways, and surprise merch drops. Green Day will also be seen on the big screen when the band’s new film, Nimrods: A Green Day Comedy hits theaters on Aug. 14. Filmmaker Lee Kirk, who wrote and directed the picture, based the story on Green Day’s salad days, when they toured in a van before Dookie made them world-famous. “I’ve always wanted to do a Green Day film,” Armstrong previously told The Hollywood Reporter.
