Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa clinched his maiden Grand Chess Tour (GCT) Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz title in St. Louis, United States, securing the championship with one round to spare after a dominant performance across the rapid and blitz formats.
The victory marks one of the biggest achievements of his career so far and significantly strengthens his position in the 2026 Grand Chess Tour standings.
The Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz is one of the premier events on the Grand Chess Tour, featuring many of the world’s strongest players competing in nine rapid rounds followed by 18 blitz games.
The victory also earned him valuable Grand Chess Tour points ahead of the remaining events on the circuit.
The Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz is the final rapid-and-blitz stop of the 2026 Grand Chess Tour before the classical Sinquefield Cup and the season-ending finals.
