Fundraising efforts by the outdoor centre revealed that £35,000 would be needed to carry out the works. “Thanks to the grant from Viking Community Benefit Fund, plus community help through our Just Giving appeal, we can start the roof repairs. “In comparable situations on listed and traditionally constructed buildings across Shetland, lead skews have been accepted where stone skews have shown evidence of repeated failure or previous repair, particularly in highly exposed locations.
