There will be no need for voluntary consumption cuts from Friday, PM Péter Magyar announced on his Facebook page on Thursday evening. Multiple heat records, along with a wind-speed record, were broken on Thursday, the weather service HungaroMet said on Facebook, citing preliminary data. The new national daytime heat record was recorded in Kiskunfélegyháza, where the temperature reached 41.8 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record of 40.2 C set in Orosháza in 1905. Meanwhile, a thunderstorm also led to a new daily wind-speed record in Szolnok, where a gust of 113kmh was recorded. The previous daily wind record was 107kmh in Körösladány in 2010.
