Hunter08/07/26Prosecutors asked a judge to deny a motion to dismiss filed by a former Iowa City woman who allegedly put her newborn son in a trash receptacle that was taken to a landfill. The Gazette reports the motion was filed because they feel the prosecution’s case can be based on her confession or admissions, and other evidence. Assistant Iowa Attorney General Mike Ringle filed the motion to deny last month. Elder was extradited from Missouri to Iowa City last September and charged with first-degree murder. The body of the infant was found at the Iowa City Landfill on December 21st, 1992.
