Forecasters expect fewer storms than average this year, with no tropical development expected in the coming days. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released an update to its Atlantic hurricane season forecast, saying its prediction for below-normal activity remains intact. "When El Niño emerges, it usually becomes the dominant factor in total hurricane season activity, and this El Nino continues to get stronger every month," said Matt Rosencrans, lead hurricane season forecaster with NOAA's National Weather Service. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. The peak of hurricane season tends to be mid-August through September.
