The Coronation RCMP detachment is encouraging businesses and residents in the region who have security cameras to register with the Community Assisted Policing Through the Use of Recorded Evidence (Capture) program. If a crime occurs near a registered property, officers check the database to see who has cameras in the area and ask the owner to upload footage from around the time of the incident for review. The program is 100 per cent voluntary, and consent can be withdrawn at any time. RCMP officers will not have live access to participants’ cameras, and all footage remains the property of the owner.
