Alabaré has urged Prime Minister Andy Burnham to include the charity sector when considering reforms to the national social care system. The charity believes this is essential to improving pay and support for workers who deliver services on behalf of local authorities. Naomi Webb, director of operations at Alabaré, said: "We’re pleased to see the new Prime Minister taking the issue of social care and homelessness so seriously at the start of his tenure and hope that the words are followed by quick actions. Alabaré argues that ongoing budget cuts have limited its ability to provide support, affecting the number of bed spaces and staff pay. It also faces challenges with recruitment and retention due to pay and burnout.
