But the New Party registers this reality not in order to draw revolutionary conclusions but in order to contain it. Scapegoating refugees displaced by imperialist wars, poverty and repression serves to divide the working class along national lines. The heritage the New Party claims must determine the attitude of the working class and the oppressed masses to it. The cadre that founded the New Party was the leadership of a party administering a number of Türkiye’s largest cities. The fundamental problems confronting the working class are global in character, and they can only be resolved through a frontal assault on the wealth and power of the ruling class—through the transfer of power to the working class on an international scale.
