U.S. health officials are investigating a Salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers imported from Mexico that has sickened 345 people across 27 states, according to Reuters. Health officials traced the outbreak to jalapeño peppers from Sinaloa, Mexico, distributed in the United States by Coast Citrus Distributors. The investigation identified restaurants, including Chipotle Mexican Grill and QDOBA, that received the imported peppers through Coast Citrus. The outbreak comes as U.S. health authorities continue investigating a separate cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to lettuce served at Taco Bell restaurants. The FDA said it does not consider there to be an ongoing risk to consumers at the restaurants identified in the Salmonella investigation.
