Sometimes, extra special things happen during ultrasounds that really warm the hearts of moms and dads. As she’s shown on the ultrasound screen, the baby girl appears to smile when her dad kisses and talks to his wife’s belly. But can babies really make facial expressions in the womb? The study indicates these facial movements are most likely practice for necessary post-birth facial movements, like sucking and crying. Makes sense to us, but we also love the idea that this baby girl heard her dad’s voice and flashed him a big grin.
