A man wanted in connection with the October 2025 shooting death of 18-year-old Adam Taylor Hernandez in Rome has been taken into custody in North Carolina. Treveonsay Trejion Burge, 23, was apprehended in Cleveland County, North Carolina, and is currently being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center in Shelby. Burge was wanted on charges of Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault stemming from the October 21, 2025, shooting death of Hernandez. Reports said that Burge shot Hernandez in the head during what is believed to be a drug deal gone wrong. The Rome Police Department would like to thank the investigators and law enforcement partners whose continued efforts led to Burge’s apprehension including the US Marshall’s Service, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, and the Shelby (NC) Police Department.
