CORNWALL – Close to 300 cyclists stopped in Cornwall Thursday as part of a 600 kilometer trek to raise money for AIDS and HIV support services. As cyclists enjoyed the waterfront and popsicles at the bandshell in Lamoureux Park, the 28th annual Friends for Life Bike Rally was already closing in on record fundraising. Money from the six day ride from Toronto to Montreal goes to support the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation, AIDS Community Care Montreal, Trellis HIV and Community Care in Kingston and Bruce House in Ottawa. On Thursday, the event was at $1.86 million of its $1.9 million goal. There were 278 riders registered – most of them were doing the entire trip from Toronto to Montreal.
