Australians Warned to Brace for Bitter Cold Blast This Weekend
['Jack Murchie']
LAFM
A powerful Antarctic cold front is set to sweep across southern and eastern Australia this weekend, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, hail, snow and some of the coldest temperatures of the season.
The Bureau of Meteorology says the icy change will first hit Western Australia before moving across South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and parts of southern Queensland from Saturday into Monday.
Lower-elevation areas could also see flurries, while strong winds and hail are possible in several regions.
Coastal communities are also being warned to prepare for rough surf and damaging wind gusts.
Keep an eye on the latest forecasts and any weather warnings if you’re planning to head outdoors this weekend.
