Fox's Butchers in Market Place Malton, has been run by the same family for generations, however since the death of Derek Fox in June, stories have begun circulating saying the shop is shutting down. Melanie Wright, who has run Fox's with her brother Shaun, said the rumours were untrue and very hurtful. Derek Fox, former owner of Fox’s Butchers in Market Place, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, aged 85. When his uncles retired in 1972, Derek was given the opportunity to buy the shop, which became Derek Fox’s Butchers. The shop is now run by Shaun and Melanie, continuing more than 180 years of history.
