Add us to yourGoogle favoritesMore than 20 cephalopods have been spotted crawling out of the water onto the beaches in Wales since last Friday night.
The common white octopus is typically found off the British coast, usually dwelling about a hundred meters deep in the ocean.
But “the behavior of these octopuses doesn’t fit into this category,” notes Mandy Reid, a cephalopod expert at the Australian Museum, speaking to Sciencealert.
Normally, turbulent waters don’t trouble octopuses, but a severe storm with violent currents could indeed mislead these animals.
In fact, several octopuses were found dead on the beach the following morning.
