The body of an 11-year-old girl has been found in a woodland park in Midlothian. Emergency services were called to the Gore Glen area, near Gorebridge, around 12.40pm on Thursday, following concerns for the girl. The 11-year-old was found in the Gore Water near Shank Bridge around 4.25pm and pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We were made aware of concern for an 11-year-old girl in the Gore Glen area, near Gorebridge around 12.40pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026. “The body of the girl was found in the Gore Water near to Shank Bridge around 4.25pm.
