Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam on Friday withdrew the divorce petition she had filed, bringing the closely watched case to an end.Appearing before the Chengalpattu Family Court through the video conference facility, Sangeetha told Justice Sujatha that she no longer wished to pursue the case. The Judge questioned her for about 15 minutes before accepting the withdrawal and closing the proceedings.In her petition, which became public in February, Sangeetha had alleged infidelity and cruelty, and the case saw repeated adjournments, most recently on June 15, when it was posted to August 7. The dispute had also acquired a political edge, with Vijay alleging ahead of the Assembly polls that rivals were using those close to him to target him, and the Opposition taking jibes at the case.Reports suggest that the couple's differences were resolved following intervention by Vijay's family. Vijay and Sangeetha married in 1999 and have two children—Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.
