Guyana is taking steps to improve access to assistive technology through a national policy development process supported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). Participants also identified key challenges and priorities needed to develop a comprehensive national assistive technology policy. The initiative is part of a broader effort led by PAHO and the World Health Organization’s Global Cooperation on Assistive Technology (GATE) to expand access to assistive products worldwide. The programme is supported by the Government of Ireland and focuses on helping countries build stronger systems for assistive technology delivery. Through continued collaboration between government agencies, disability organisations and health partners, Guyana is moving toward a more coordinated and accessible approach to assistive technology services.
