Is there greater grief than that of a young mother-to-be than the loss of one who she never had opportunity to but briefly hold? The door to the small country church was open. Had the baby’s mother and father sat there, holding one another, their arms intertwined? So crucial for navigating life’s challenges are these little country churches surrounded as they are with grave markers for both young and old. As we left, almost stepping on them, we knelt next to two tiny daisies in the church yard.
