Torridon in Wester Ross has been declared Scotland’s newest National Nature Reserve, protecting more than 5,100 hectares of mountains, coastline and rare habitats. Liathach and part of Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve in Torridon, which has now been declared Scotland’s newest National Nature Reserve. The reserve sits alongside NatureScot’s neighbouring Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve, with the area attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year for walking and mountaineering. Torridon is the first new National Nature Reserve in Scotland since 2017, when the Trust’s Glencoe and Mar Lodge Estate sites were granted the status.
