The Clare Champion
Fáilte Festival Doonbeg Group Chairman, Colum Clancy told The Clare Champion that the committee has been working with Clare County Council, the Gardaí, local businesses and other groups to show off the West Clare town to the world.
He confirmed the main focus of the group is to facilitate the Irish Open and it will leave the US Secret Service and the Gardaí to handle any security issues surrounding President Trump’s visit to Doonbeg.
“We are looking to celebrate West Clare and helping people enjoy the fantastic opportunity of having the Irish Open in the locality.
When you have footfall of up to 80,000 people coming into Clare, it is a brilliant opportunity for Doonbeg and surrounding areas because the traffic has to come into the county.
“It will provide a major economic boost for Doonbeg, West Clare and Clare.
