The planned Ksh85 billion Mombasa Gate Bridge has moved a step closer to construction after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) began a key technical review ahead of the tendering phase.
In an update shared on Friday, August 7, KeNHA announced that project partners have convened a three-day joint meeting to conclude the Independent Design Verification (IDV), a critical stage before implementation can proceed.
The review is expected to validate the bridge’s final design, assess engineering refinements and formally hand over the completed verification documents.

The Mombasa Gate Bridge will provide a permanent road connection between Mombasa Island and the South Coast, reducing reliance on the Likoni Ferry.
