Wrexham has formally submitted its bid to become UK City of Culture 2029, in what could be a significant moment in the city’s history. The Wrecsam2029 bid, led by the Wrexham Community & Culture Trust, was longlisted earlier this year. “We take play seriously”Amanda Evans, director of Wrexham’s UK City of Culture 2029 bid, said: “Here in Wrexham, we like to play. We play games, we play sport, we play music, we play characters at the theatre. Groups involved include Wrexham’s County Voluntary Council, the Youth Parliament, the North East Wales Multicultural Hub and the county’s adventure playgrounds.
