Published 2:10 am Friday, August 7, 2026VICTORIA — Joana Grace Bochat, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, service, and dedication. Born in Port Lavaca, Texas, on March 7, 1930, to Herman and Agnes Bochat, as fifth of eleven children, Joana grew up with a sharp mind and an adventurous spirit. In 1951, Joana made history as the very first employee hired at the DuPont Victoria Plant, beginning her career as Secretary to the Plant Manager. As the family historian, she painstakingly traced the complete Bochat family genealogy, leaving behind extensive records for future generations. Joana was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Agnes Bochat; seven of her brothers and their beloved spouses; and one sister and brother-in-law.
