(Isabella Crowley/The Observer/File)LA GRANDE — Voters will have a say in November on whether or not La Grande implements a local gas tax. If approved by voters, the ballot measure would create a 5 cent local gas tax with a built in 5 year sunset provision. The consensus is that a local gas tax would be the most equitable way to fund continued road maintenance at the lowest cost to residents. The gas tax has the added benefit of capturing revenue from non residents fueling up in La Grande. This is not the first time La Grande has considered a local gas tax.
