\Ghana champions, Medeama SC, will be in a battle of their lives when they face continental giants, T.P Mazembe of DR Congo, at the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League Competition, following yesterday’s draw. The draw, conducted at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, handed Medeama the tough opponents in the opening stage of the competition. The second preliminary round will follow shortly afterwards, with the first-leg matches slated for September 14-16 and the return legs scheduled between September 23-25. The club’s impressive showing has now placed them ahead of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, who are notably absent from the latest CAF rankings. Their absence from the ranking list highlights the challenges facing the country’s biggest football brands on the continental stage.
