Metaphor and fact in religiosityFor years now I have adopted the view that religious narratives are fundamentally allegorical even when they contain elements of fact. It is not a statement of fact in and of itself. Are the four elements a statement of fact? Using this metaphor, I can come up with lots of interesting stories about the world which may make people think about different parts of their everyday life. These and many more are questions that naturally follow from the basic notion that Jesus qua ultimate magician is a fact.
