Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the freezing of the state’s Federal Statutory Allocation Account. The Attorney General of Osun State and the Accountant General of the state are also listed as plaintiffs in the case. The plaintiffs asked the court to determine whether the EFCC had the legal power to freeze the state’s account without first obtaining a valid court order. They also questioned whether the action violated the Constitution, the EFCC Act and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. In addition, they sought a perpetual injunction to stop the EFCC from freezing any Osun State account in the future without following due process.
