Police officers in Athi River, working with alert members of the public, have rescued a medical doctor who armed kidnappers abducted from Juja City Mall and held for a Ksh3 million ransom. Dr. Emmanuel Kerich was relaxing with friends at the mall when three armed men accosted him, handcuffed him, and forced him into a Subaru Forester bearing registration KBK 895W. The kidnappers drove Dr. Kerich through several locations, torturing him along the way as they demanded the multi-million shilling payment. Two suspects fled the scene during the confrontation, while a third fell into the hands of an angry mob. Officers intervened, rescued the beaten suspect from the mob, and rushed him to hospital, where he remains under police guard.
