Two years after announcing its plans to expand into Bangladesh, Thailand’s Café Amazon has finally launched its first store in the nation in the Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka. Founded in 2002 to serve customers at PTT gas stations, Café Amazon has grown to become one of the world’s largest coffee chains with more than 5000 total stores – most of which are in Thailand. It also has locations in Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Oman, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam. Two Café Amazon Bangladesh locations were inaugurated in Dhaka on 6 August. First, the Bashundhara Residential Area flagship, then another location in Bashundhara City Shopping Mall.
